Our Vision

We envision the Indiana SWCD Foundation as a stable, private, supplemental funding source for Indiana soil and water conservation districts.

Build Your SWCD's Endowment

Duplicate the Donation Form and ask individuals to contribute.

Talk to local business owners who already donate funds to your SWCD.  Ask them to contribute an annual amount to Indiana SWCD Foundation, to directly benefit your SWCD endowment.

How do SWCDs Benefit from Indiana SWCD Foundation Endowments?

An SWCD endowment of $10,000 can yield an annual grant of $500.00.

SWCDs interested in drawing these funds must first reach the $10,000 level, and then work with the Indiana SWCD Foundation to set a spending rate (in this example, five percent).

SWCDs participating in the Woody Warehouse tree sale program grow their endowment each time they sell a Woody Warehouse tree.  For each tree, Woody Warehouse donates $1.00 to the Indiana SWCD Foundation for the particular SWCD’s endowment.

As the endowment grows, so does the potential for the SWCD to receive an annual grant.  Donations to build the endowment must come from private sources, such as businesses or individuals.

We envision, over time, SWCDs reaching endowment values of $50,000 and more.  This amount could potentially yield an annual return of $2,500 to a SWCD.  As the individual endowment grows, so does the potential annual return.  As endowments collectively increase, all endowment holders benefit from the larger principal's increased earning potential.
